So for Jay's class we were each assigned a contemporary figure painter. I was assigned Philip Pearlstein, a Pennsylvania-born artist who was good friends with Andy Warhol. I don't know too much more at this point, but just look at his work! I am really enjoying color in these paintings. Plus the arrangement of the bodies can be very interesting, and almost hard to look at.

I didn't realize this at the time, but I've seen this piece in person when I was in DC last fall.
It is in the Smithsonian American Art Museum.
