Collograph

So for our final project in relief printmaking, we had to make a collograph plate to print. I wanted to do something with a decent amount of texture, so i chose to look at cells of the body:

i really like where this one is going, so ill probably work on a few more before fridays crit.

Duo Model: Three week pose

In class assignment for Jay:

Build and stretch a 48" x 60" canvas 

to be used for a 3 week painting with duo model setup

Oil

1st day: 2 hours in.

I decided to start with an 'en grisaille' underpainting 

1st days finish: Im fairly satisfied with the start

2nd day finish: I was originally excited about this start, but then during the last 20 minutes, Jay made us start generically filling in color, which i didn't appreciate. I've always been told to never 'fill in' a painting ...

Final Painting 

Not completely happy with the finish, I would have really liked to have another class period to refine some of the areas, but im fairly happy with how the models turned out. It seems to have its own glow, even though i started it with a dark underpainting

Duomo print: the making of

Idea: make a print from a photo of Italy. 

Decided to do 22 copies of a 7 layer print.
